Moonee Valley Horse Racing Tips Friday 4th February 2011
Race 1 – 1200mtrs 2yo Fillies Handicap – 06.45pm
Keep an eye on the markets as there will be moves for sure. First starters No 2 Petrushka and No 3 Portion in good stables and nicely bred. No 1 Miss Magic Chine has excuses for first up run, as does No 6 North East. Follow markets and the money.
Race 2 – 1600mtrs 3yo Fillies 0 – 72 Handicap – 07.15pm
No 2 Serene Diva I liked her first up run from the spell, it was good to see her on a good track and she was unlucky in her run. She was slowly away and got pocketed on the rail, then held up a little before finding the line well. The claim of 2kgs a big help. No 6 There’s Only One (Nom Wed 9th) also from the Moody camp has three runs under her belt this preparation, I like Meech back on board here, will be better for her last start over this distance. No 5 Ramiel (Nom Thur 10th) won well last start and was humped hard at the start, recovered well and then raced wide but fought hard for a nice win. No 4 Lady of the Lamp the 3rd Moody runner can forget last start as she is better than that. She never really got going after slowly away settling further from the lead than she would like. Worked home well late.
Race 3 – 1600mtrs 3yo Handicap – 07.45pm
No 6 Clemente $10 (Nom Wed 9th) ran a good race last start, he is a green colt and after showing promise in his first start at Geelong came wide off the turn for a good win hitting line hard late. No 4 Elusive King $6 was sent for a kill last start and did that. He has been unlucky other starts and even in his win he did things wrong. Jumped awkwardly and then raced wide all the way. Hit line well and is nominated for the Australian Guineas. No 5 La Fantastique $2.60 (Nom Wed 9th) has raced better with each start, she won well at Ballarat racing wide the entire way, a big margin on the line but the time nothing special. No 3 On Face Value $7 (Nom Wed 9th) is another horse that has improved with racing, even in his win he did a bit wrong being held up on the turn then shifting out and making contact. Any scratchings No 1 Population $4.
Race 4 – 955mtrs 0 – 82 Handicap – 08.15pm
No 6 Marconi (special) returns from a long spell, he looked a smart horse first preparation and lost his only race at Flemington where he had a slow recovery rate. Won his trial on the 24th of January in smart time and did it well. He is nominated for the Newmarket on March 12. No 8 Alpha Proxima you have to respect at this distance, an excellent record and will run a big race. No 3 Dad Knows Best returning from his spell and should run well fresh, a smart horse. No 2 Kenny Kid is first up and goes well fresh but doesn’t have the best track record. Any scratchings throw in No 1 Jeteven the old fella has a 3kg claim.
Race 5 – 1600mtrs – 0 – 89 Handicap – 08.45pm
No 7 Redhead Rage $10 is a decent horse and Oliver getting on a board a big bonus. Is racing well and sure to make this a genuine race pace. No 8 St Ives $5 (Nom Wed 9th) is light and Boss will give him a big chance after his nice win last start. No 3 Grail Journey $4.20 from the Hawkes stable is a very consistent horse and be there at the line. No 6 Ma Shang $3.30 is into his 4th run back here, is racing well and will be coming home late.
Race 6 – 1000mtrs Mares Handicap – 09.15pm
No 3 Netra $3.30 has been freshened and drops 3kgs on her last run. She is a good sprinter and with Oliver on board again a big threat. No 4 La Bella Roo $5 you cannot fault her form but Netra meets her 4.5kgs better here. No 7 Heyington Honey $7.50 forget her last start, she began badly and had to cheek off heels just after the start, worked home well late in the straight. No 5 Fabulist $6 returns from her spell and is a handy sprinter and should go well fresh. Any scratchings throw in No 1 Big Spirit $4.40.
Race 7 – 2500mtrs 0 – 78 Handicap – 09.45pm
No 1 Streaky Fella has stepped up distance well this preparation, was too far back last start and worked home well late, found a little interference around the 300mtr mark and then had to ease of heels when going for a run. A big run. No 10 Pennon for Payne, drops weight and is running in good form. No 9 Nazabeel has stepped up distance well this preparation and will be fitter here. No 8 Mateo drops weight and Oliver gets on board and goes well over distance. Any scratchings throw in No 4 Causeway Cat.
Race 8 – 1200mtrs 0 – 82 Handicap – 10.15pm
No 3 Conquering Journey $6.50 forget his last start as he is much better than that. He shifted ground at the start and made very heavy contact, then was tightened for room and squashed, pushed through horses to about 4th but never got going. Jockey said when horse changed stride just didn’t respond. I backed at $8 for 2K eachway. No 9 Little Gem $6.50 has a bad barrier but I like this horse as she is smart and if she can get across into a nice spot will be a threat. No 6 Tough Future $13 the ex Tasmanian horse is better than his last start, jumped badly and never got going. He ran a decent race against War Ends leading a long way in that race and before that a nice win at Traralgon. No 11 Quick Peek $4.20 the current favourite (Nom Sat 5th) has drawn wide, he is smart but will be hard to cross as there is plenty of speed on the inside of him. Any scratchings throw in No 2 Side Splitter $11

Ballarat Horse Racing Tips Thursday 3rd February 2011
Race 1 – 1200mtrs Maiden Plate – 01.00pm
A few first starters that have trialed and a couple that are well bred. I like No 5 Umachine, he won his trial in good time and out of Umatilla and he was a handy sprinter a long time ago. He won the G1 Karrakatta, G3 Hilton Stakes, 2nd in the G1 Blue Diamond, G2 Pago Pago so you can see he should sprint well fresh. He trialed with blinkers on and they worked and keeps them on for race day. No 3 Natural Attraction (Nom Sun 6th) has won his last trial and is from, Nathan Tinkler is very well bred, out of Redoute’s Choice and we know how handy he was, the dam also was smart Coogee Walk winning some nice races back in New Zealand. No 2 El Blazing Time will be better for his first run where he lead and fought hard to the line. No 4 Tee Off Tiger is coming back from a long spell, he ran 2 good races and should be better for the experience.
Race 2 – 1000mtrs 2yo Fillies Maiden Plate – 01.35pm
There are 8 first starters here and markets will be a good guide. On breeding No 2 Ervbefel, No 6 Not On Monday, No 10 Stratric, No 5 Kotzebue Lulu but again I would follow the money of the best backed horse through betting.
Race 3 – 1200mtrs 3yo Maiden Plate – 02.10pm
I look forward to seeing No 12 Zero to Sixty (Nom Mon 7th), is nicely bred and won his trial well way back in November, Hayes put him away again maybe having his first start here. No 6 Lohengrin is well bred and I look forward to seeing here. No 1 Domesky (Nom Sat 5th) is a smart horse that has been around in much harder races, they are trying to break his duck so must be forward if he starts. No 5 King Vouge (Nom Sat 5th Sun 6th) ran a big race on debut as he nearly threw the jockey at the start. Ran a good race to finish second making ground late. Any scratchings throw in the No 9 Sons of God.
Race 4 – 1400mtrs 0 – 62 Handicap – 02.45pm
This is an average race and the best for me is No 2 Ya Still Wonder, he doesn’t have a good record but I like all his runs this preparation, close to another win. No 8 King Triton (Nom Fri 4th) has two runs this preparation and last start led at a genuine pace before tiring. Will be fitter and better dropping back a little in distance. No 6 Viscera has been around the mark and a chance for the places. No 1 Show Dancer (Nom Sat 5th) is an interesting runner in the Bart Cummings stable, has changed from Gai Waterhouse and Cummings is a crafty fellow.
Race 5 – 1600mtrs 0 – 68 Handicap - 03.20pm
No 9 Model To Nite is an ex NZ horse that ahs two Australian runs under her belt. Her first run at Geelong was solid and then a good win at Kilmore. Did get tired late in that win but sure to be fitter here. No 4 Monarchs was freshened for 30 days and returned with a good run, drops in class and is used to carrying this sort of weight and should be very fit. No 6 Te Jay (Nom Sun 6th) has run some decent races in his time, returned from 55 day let up with a nice run, just missed the win and jockey looked at the film as he thought about protesting. Made good ground late. No 1 Anudjawan was very slowly away and got too far back, is better than that and sure to be smarter here. Any scratchings throw in No 5 Takeonefortheteam is racing very well but needs to find a few yards of pace.
Race 6 – 2300mtrs 0 – 72 Handicap – 03.57
No 9 Flying Hula has come back from her spell in good form, dead heated for 1st last start coming from well back making good ground late. Likes to get back and will be working home hard. No 6 Elms (No Sat 5th Sun 6th) is drawn wide, dead heated with the horse above last start. Did sit on the pace and fought hard down the straight. No 6 Hiphopopotamus (Nom Sun 6th) drops a lot of weight here, was working home well late last start and Symons sure to give every chance. No 13 Uma Love is another that was doing her best too late, got held up on the turn before finding clear ground finding the line well. Any scratchings No 7 Beer Garden.
Race 7 – 1600mtrs Fillies & Mares 0 – 62 Handicap – 04.37pm
No 3 Owners Priority returned after a 52 day freshen up with a good win, in a good stable and sure to be ready. His Sire Lucky Owners was a very smart horse and should want this distance at least. No 1 Hindsight is dropping back in class but goes up in weight. She is a little frustrating but can run a decent race. No 2 Isabelle Lass has two starts from her spell, she is better than these runs if you watch some of her runs in Queensland. No 6 Starred For Life has returned from her spell in good form, all three runs has had some sort of trouble and last start was wide all the way.
Race 8 – 1200mtrs 0 – 68 Handicap - 05.17pm
No 2 Under The Hat returns from his spell, he was outclassed last start but also did a bit wrong in that race so forget. He looks a nice little horse and interested to see how he goes here. No 12 Ski Esprit (Nom Sat 5th) last two starts at the track have been good. A good front running win last start, time good for Ballarat and will again make then run an honest race. No 5 Morossa (Nom Mon 7th) is 4 runs back this preparation, forget his last start as he over-raced early and had to be checked off heels. Did too much early and weakened. His run before at Ballarat was very good, Bushrod was too good but worked home well. No 9 Loudest (Nom Sat 5th) from the Snowden camp, has returned froma long break looking smart with 3 good runs under his belt. A solid win last start.

Sandown Hillside Horse Racing Tips Wednesday 2nd February 2011
Race 1 – 1200mtrs 3yo 0 – 68 Handicap - 01.35pm
You have to take into account the form against Under The Eiffel which won again last Saturday, No 1 Broadcast finished just off him last start. Came from barrier 12 and got caught wide the entire way, did find the line well. No 2 Trudeau ran in the same race and also didn’t have a lot of luck, sat last and then railed saving ground, had to shift off rails and across heels late to get clear running and found line well. No 9 Do Ra Mi (Nom Sat 5th) from Moody won its maiden last start returning from the spell, and what a win. Won by 10 lengths in decent time on the slow 6 track. She could have won some of her other races last preparation with a little luck. No 7 Dominant Future (Nom Sat 5th) was sent for a kill coming back from the spell and did that at the odds of $1.30, backed in from $1.60. Has blinkers first time and will be coming home for sure. Any scratchings put in Moody’s other runner No 8 Eureka Jack (Nom Sat 5th).
Race 2 – 1500mtrs Mares 0 – 78 Handicap – 02.10pm
No 4 Princess Diablo is racing very well, jumps up a little in class but the 2kg claim helps and sure to be a big threat. No 2 Stole (Nom Sat 5th) won her first Australian start, was well supported and will be better for that run as well. No 9 Miss Chatter ran a big race last start, sat midfield pocketed, went for a run inside about 200mtrs out but ran into a dead end, then got a split with 100mtrs to go finding the line very well. No 3 Mikeys Magic not a bad first up run returning from the spell, has a good second up record and sure to have trained on. Any scratching put in No 1 Sparks Fly.
Race 3 – 1600mtrs 0 – 68 Handicap – 02.45pm
No 8 Studley Park (Special) (Nom Sat 5th , Sun 6th) what a really nice first race win last start, showed his Zabeel breeding and his mum Flushed won the Listed Matriarch 2000mtrs, Group 2 Sunline 1600mtrs and the Listed Lets Elope 1400mtrs, so he is very well bred. He sat back at Ballarat, swung wide at the turn and just ate the ground up late for a big win. No 4 Perian Moon has raced better with each start this preparation, last start win at Morphettville in a harder class was good, but I really liked his run at Cranbourne the start before finishing second. No 13 Inabeauti finally broke through for his maiden win last start, could have done that the start before if not held up. Is very light with the 2kg claim and will be coming home hard. No 5 Leoncavallo has stepped up distance well this preparation and was scratched from Flemington on the 22nd. His Moonee Valley run was very good last start coming from well back through the field.
Race 4 – 1200mtrs 3yo Fillies 0 – 68 Handicap – 03.20pm
There are some nice horses here and many of the ones I like have drawn very wide, they could come in with scratching but will have to wait and see. No 9 Spring Bound (Nom Sat 5th) won on the synthetic at Geelong her only start, it was an impressive win easing to the line. No 10 Zabillie (barrier 18 Nom Sat 5th) also won on debut at Geelong on the synthetic, it was a gutsy win as was headed but dug deep to win. No 7 Iridescente (barrier 16 Nom Sat 5th) returned from her spell with a good win, led the whole way and gapped them. No 14 Our Cougette (Nom Sat 5th) from the Moody camp won well on debut, looked very nice leading all the way. If scratching keep No 13 Missten safe as she is racing well.
Race 5 – 2100mtrs 0 – 78 Handicap – 04.00pm
No 10 Bolton (Nom Sat 5th Sun 6th) has barrier 14 and was scratched from Cranbourne on the 30th. He looks a smart horse and his two runs this preparation have shown he has talent, got too far back last start making good ground late and his win at Bendigo was smart in good time before that. No 11 You’re Joking Me (Nom Sat 5th Sun 6th ) ran a good race last start, drops 5kgs on that run and Nolen gets on board. No 14 Shewan has the Smerdon and Boss combination, he is racing well and has his foot on the till. Sure to be running on late. No 7 Vitreous is also racing well and last start ran a cheeky race leading a long way before being headed but fought hard right to the line.
Race 6 – 1400mtrs 0 – 82 Handicap – 04.40pm
No 8 Zevada (Nom Sat 5th) I liked his first up run from the spell, was a little unlucky in the run and came home well late, good second up and will be a big chance. No 12 Assertive Albert (Nom Fri 4th Sat 5th) was tiring on the line at Moonee Valley for his win but he did a lot of work in the race and sure to be fitter and better here. No 1 Cascabel (Nom Fri 4th Sat 5th Sun 6th) is racing very well and the 3kg claim makes a big difference. No 7 Testas Double is first up from his spell, goes well fresh and keep safe. Any scratchings throw in No 5 Dandy Dollar (Nom Sat 5th).
Race 7 – 1200mtrs Mares 0 -78 Handicap - 05.20pm
No 4 Tan Tat Tess (Nom Fri 4th Sat 5th) it was an excellent ride by Nolen lat start, he will again give her every chance and she will be fitter. No 11 Groovy Choice willing to give a chance, looked a little underdone first up and will be fitter here and also has blinkers for the first time. No 3 Luminous Harmony is racing well, has been around in harder races and last start did too much work early. No 13 Lady La Bend is a good light weight chance, she was coming home well and had to be balanced a few times, just went down on the line. No 1 Elegant N Easy returned after 700 days and jumped terribly, was well last and never got going. Is better than that and I expect improvement.

I have been looking at a system, there are a million out there but I thought I would track my own. It is simple and I have kept records for the last two months and will let you know what it is all about. I am going to keep it going for another few months as it has been interesting
My first selection in each race you wager $10 on the horse, if the place dividend is more than $1.50 you make a $5 eachway bet, if it is shorter than $1.50 you back it for a win only.
I usually choose 4 horses in each race, so a boxed quinella would cost $6 for 4 horses, if there were 3 runners it costs $3 and only 2 runners $2. You take the quinella for a $1 unit.
Now I am not a trifecta man (might be changing), but I have included this in the system as when they do get up they can pay handsomely. A boxed 4 horse trifecta is $24, 3 horses $6.
I hardly ever take a first 4, I have included this in the system just to see if it is a viable option. A boxed first 4 costs $24
So if you looked at today’s racing at Warrnambool on my tips you would have outlaid:
Win / eachway betting $80 for a $119 dollar return. A small profit of $39 dollars.
Quinella betting an outlay of $40 for a return of $65.50. A profit of $25.50 dollars.
Trifecta betting an outlay of $160 for a return of $661. A profit of $501 dollars.
First 4 betting an outlay of $144 for a return of $3,095. A profit of $2,951 dollars.
Not every meeting is successful and I am so happy that today kicked off as it did and as it stands a profit of $3,516.50 was made.
If at a race meeting none of the horses I tipped are scratched then an outlay of $512 is possible. I never bet like this, I bet large amounts on a handful of bets each month. But I have enjoyed trying this system and we will see if it fails miserably or we stay afloat.
At Moonee Valley on the January 28th my 4 horses I tipped came in and paid for the quinella $139.10, trifecta $2,837 and the first 4 a whopping $30,900.60.
It has been funny as the last three months I have tracked this system and thought it was a waste of time for the trifectas and first 4’s, one will get up and pay a very nice dividend covering all outlays and also pad the bank nicely.
I only bet on Victorian races. At times when Victorian horses are interstate I will offer tips at those meetings.
I have decided to share my tips, hopefully to help the normal punter win a few bucks on the weekend.
