Geelong Synthetic (moved from Ballarat) Horse Racing Tips Thursday 13th January 2011
The meeting has been transferred from Ballarat to the Geelong synthetic track, could be a lot of scratching will have to wait and see. There is some horrible weather forecast for Victoria, 200mm of rain or more predicted is being said. So there might not be much racing if this does happen.
Race 1 – 2200mtrs Maiden Plate – 01.00pm
This is an average race being polite, No 9 Haumea on form should win this. No 2 Count La Za finally put his best foot forward last start, will need to find a few yards of pace though. No 4 Provoked have to give a chance as came back from a very long 511 day spell, this is his 5th run back. No 10 Africa should finally break his duck here and at least run a place.
Race 2 – 1200mtrs Maiden Plate – 01.35pm
No 7 Watasham is a great name for a racehorse but also his first up run was solid. Hope he comes down to Geelong as a big chance for a win. No 1 Billy of Chicago first up from the spell a nice run, was doing best work a little late and if a bit closer on the turn a chance. No 10 Esthermac I also liked her only race run, she fought hard and drops back to 1200mtrs, Dunn will give a good chance. No 8 Bee Ali is a bit of a mystery, should want this distance and further. Has not placed three times at this distance. Can run on well, last start was wide and did too much work.
Race 3 – 1000mtrs 3yo Fillies Maiden Plate – 02.10pm
There are a few first starters here and must watch markets closely as I like the breeding on a couple. No 5 Kya is first up from the spell, ran some nice races last preparation and will be better for her first few runs. No 6 Mega Miss led a long way last start before weakening, should be fitter and better for that run. No 4 Invincible Lady both 1000mtr runs this preparation have been good. First up was slowly away before working home well, last start was held up and never really got going. No 12 Sirrah is well bred and look forward to see run.
Race 4 – 1300mtrs 3yo Maiden Plate – 02.45pm
No 2 Fine Wine ran a good first up race, looked a little green or underdone first up and did make a little ground late. Sure to be better here. No 7 Skimalong was flying home late last start, just missed out and a big chance on that run here. No 5 Oratorium got held up a few time last start, never really clear and didn’t finish too far off the winner. No 1 Diary is going to have to find another gear here to win this but is a nice horse in a good stable.
Race 5 – 1300mtrs 0 – 72 handicap – 03.20pm
No 6 Cardiobeat gave his opposition a galloping lesson last start, drops weight with the class rise but if repeats will be hard to beat. No 8 Wine and Wickets is running well, last two starts found the line well with a good win at Bendigo last run. No 4 Monarchs forget last start is much better than that. Should be fitter and ready for a big run here. No 3 Electronic Cross tired late last start, should be better for that run.
Race 6 – 2200mtrs 0 – 68 Handicap – 03.55pm
No 8 Flying Hula from the Weir camp has three good runs this preparation, has stepped up well in distance each one and last start was hammering home late down the outside. No 2 Bold Dazzler last start he led to the 400mtr mark then faded, vet said he had a slow recovery rate, is a better horse than this run. No 7 Keep Cool is running very consistently, is bred to run this distance and should be a chance at the places. No 1 Asphalt Jungle is the top weight, he is running well back from the spell and will give his all.
Race 7 – 1200mtrs 0 – 68 Handicap – 04.35pm
No 2 Shanghai Express returned from a 582 day spell with a nice run, he lead most the way before running out of gas. Is going to be better for this run and the connections have nominated him for the $1 million Newmarket Handicap in March. No 9 Under The Eiffel is an interesting runner, returning after 387 days and his only two race runs were promising. He is sure to be bigger now and was scratched New Year’s Day, watch markets closely. No 3 Pity The Fool returned from a 606 day spell with two nice runs, last start won well at Ballarat and will like the extra distance. No 4 Morossa came from well back last start finding the line well, was supported late from $9.50 into $6.50 and the money was nearly right.
Race 8 – 1300mtrs 0 – 62 Handicap – 05.15pm
No 6 Java Jack is returning from a 158 day spell, was smart his first preparation though both runs were on heavy tracks and one only a field of 4 runners. This horse is nominated for the Australian Guineas in March. No 11 Mary Street forget last start, was away badly and then squeezed about the 1200mtr mark. The win at Mornington before this was a very good run five wide in the straight hitting the line hard. No 5 Pelikaan Straat firs Victorian run was okay, will be better for this and just got too far back in that race. No 2 Highly Regarded last two starts was caught wide with no cover, if he jumps well and gets a nice trail in the race will be running home late.
